Glad you are happy with it Chris!

I got the firewall prepped today, just have a few areas to fine tune. I will close those holes up tomorrow and get some high build primer on it.

Sorry Chris, I have been slacking on keeping your build progress updated on my end.

All of the biggest areas needing welding or bodywork are done and epoxy sealed. All thats left on the cab is the small stuff, some small touch ups that are showing now that its all epoxy sealed and get a few coats of build primer on. I spent alot of time getting the bodywork just right before I even apply any build primer, now it should only take one block to be ready to paint.

This shows the dash after the first block to show the high and low spots.

Chris came out today to see the lastest addition being done to his truck. As always, it was great having you out at the shop today Chris. Hope the little one feels better!

Chris decided to add a very nice touch to his truck. :2thumbs A flush mount, LED, third brake light. This 3rd brake light is 15 1/4" long, 1/2 inch tall. The lens will be blocked in with the body work, painted up to the edge and cleared over. Once its color sanded and buffed you will see the lens, but wont be able to feel it under the clear.

Heres the 3rd brake light cutout being layed out, cut and the lens fit to the opening in the cab.

And here it is with the lens in correctly, the light box installed and all 60 LED's lit up! I love it!

I agree, Chris will have the nicest truck around. I've got a question about the 3rd brake light (I love it by the way). My 68 has one very similar. Keith what did you use around the edge of the light to hide the seam between the plastic light and the metal cab? Filler? How is the light mounted to the cab?

Thanks Wynne.

The gap around the lens is pretty tight, it slides in but there is very little gap around it. I cut out the area around the interior light to access the back of the cab. The lens goes from the inside out. I will apply JB weld epoxy on the mounting surface of the lens, then push it through the slot. This will attach the lens to the cab and force a small amount of epoxy through the tiny gap on the outside. Then I can work the lens down to the finished body leve leaving it just alittle high, just enough that the paint edge will build up to the lens level, then lightly block to get the lens to paint level close to perfect, then clear over it all. The light box fits over the lens from behind VERY TIGHTLY and attaches to the cab by two studs welded onto the backside of the panel.

Basically, the lens is epoxied in from behind, then sandwiched tightly between the steel and the light box.

I will get some close up pictures if you need to see it Wynne. If I think about picking up the camera, I will take some as I go to show it through the whole process.

Thanks Keith, I didn't think about JBweld, that would work good. I haven't looked at mine to see how it attaches, but the hole has been cut. If I go with a dark color, I'd love to smooth it and hide it behind the paint. I've seen it done and it was pretty cool to me.

HaHa ! Keith had so many ideas running thru my head yesterday that i was mentally exhausted while driving home !

Guys, thanks for the kind words ! Keith is doing an outstanding job on the body. It looks sweet with just the DP90 on it ! So much has been tweaked and massaged, you'd just have to see it in person. The 3rd brake light install was awesome. I cant wait to see it completely slick with the body.

As Always, it was a great time yesterday, Keith ! Did you sit down with the catalog and make a list for the '49 ??

Thanks for everything bro, and we'll see again for CTC !! :2thumbs
