Front Axle Replacement?

Postby Dennis Darouse on Thu Feb 19, 2009 2:15 pm

I am looking for a rear axle for my 41 firetruck to use 19.5 wheels on but I was told, that maybe instead of getting and cutting new front axle maybe I could just change out front hub assemblies. Any/all help needed.
Thanks
Dennis

I'm not sure that I understand, you need a rear axle, or a front axle? I don't have much experience with stuff in that era, but I'll try.

Sorry about confusion. Yes I am looking for a 10 lug Chevy P30 or HD3500 rear end to change out. Also I am looking for a front axle off the same style truck, but was wondering if I could just change out hub assembly or do I need full axle and cut to fit.

If you've still got a '41 model front axle, I'm guessing that it'll be tough to find front hub assemblies that will bolt on, but I don't really know. I'll keep an eye open for a donor though.
