I tried to finish up the drivers front fender, plus did some blocking on the truck. What looked pretty good before, now p*sses me off. No close ups of that because I don't want to be held accountable for my stupidity. Man, it was like I had never sanded before in my life. Oh well, maybe get back on it tomorrow. Anyways, she sits peacefully waiting for me.

OK, trying to catch up this thread. I been lazy, or working or, something. Anyways, since March I have gotten a few things done. Although not nearly as much as I would like and it sure seems 99% of it involves sanding.

One thing that wasn't was acquiring the seat I really wanted (in the right color also). George found some one with a 92 C100, that had changed his over to a SS350 clone and had the seat sealed in his garage awhile and wanted it gone. So not it is mine. I also found some visor from a 1st generation Ford Exploder that matches color wise and is a little different from stock.

Next, I have been working on the hood, stripping/cleaning, as well as attempting a different hinge/spring (or lack of) method. I did some measuring and calculations for pressure and weight and found a gas strut on line that I am going to attempt to use instead of the stock springs. I used a hole that was already in the fender and some good washer bracing for the ball nuts. Then just drilled a hole in the hinge, and added the ball nut and strut. By calculations, it opens almost as far as the stock setup. We'll see how if there is enough pressure in the struts, but not too much to cause the hinges to bend (don't ask how I know). Once I get the hood and hinges painted, we'll see.

Shot the hood with Eastwood,, but in the middle my compressor when up in smoke, well flames actually. Anyways took a while to get it right, and had to re-sand it as the stuff didn't lay right. Eventually I pieced together my compressor and got the hood primed with the epoxy primer, and today I sprayed the underside of the hood gloss black to go with the rest of my engine compartment.

So this is where she sits. Still tons of priming and blocking to do. She won't be ready this Crusin, but......

Looks Good Bill! Progress is progress...

That is the exact seat I'm looking for to use in my truck. I have a bench out of one of those trucks that I got from outlaw, but it doesn't have the fold-down armrest. I might just see if I can add an armrest like that to it.

Nice progress Bill, One of the nicest style seats that will work in these trucks. Good score!
The gas shock instead of the spring is a good idea, keep us posted on how it works out.

Steven, it can probably be done but, IMHO keep looking for an early 90's seat with a factory fold down armrest, as I imagine that adding an armrest will add big bucks to the cost of recovering the seat.

Nice work Bill! Its looking good. I will admit that the fllet bed threw mw at first, considering your screen name

Steven, I agree with Kevin on the seat, you can get the armrest with a suburban middle row seat like is in my '63...and most of them are in pretty good shape as they don't get as much "traffic" as a front seat does. Just a thought...

Yeah i decided (good or bad has yet to be determined) to flip it to a fleetside over the original stepside.
