That ain't a step no more.

Most of you have seen my mess on the 67-72 board. I had a pretty decent truck to start with, just plain though. 250 6, 3 speed and fairly decent body. Only 98,000 original miles and she ran good. After Cruising in 2002, I decided to fix a "few" things to make it look better. Well, as most of you know it still ain't back together.

Sometimes I wish I would have left well enough alone and drove it before I tore into.

Here is what she looks like at the moment.

For more details, you can see what I have been doing in this post on the 67-72 board

Yeah Bill it's looking good. I've been following it on the board. Keep at it. I've got a door giving me the same problem you had and I think I'm going to try doing what you did.

Keep at it Bill, it'll be worth it in the end. Set yourself a goal date, like Cuisin the Coast, lol, and we'll meet you there!

Looks good, Bill! Body-wise you're much further along than me.

Yesterday was the first time I got to touch mine in forever. Got the annual spring trimming of all the Azaleas and other tree like things accomplished. Back to the excitement of sanding. Oh yeah...That will get you going.

I shouldn't have much more. I think the passenger rocker and driver's door is close to being where I want them.

Decided to strip the hood while the filler was drying.

I don't have any recent photos, but was doing some addition contemplation work (your in the shop, but wife will kill you if you get dirty work) this morning before church. Trying to figure out what to do with my tailgate now. Beat and bowed like heck on the inside, but somewhat straight on the outside. I guess I might be looking for one soon.

Hey Bill, keep at it, you'll get her done before you know it. I saw a good post yesterday on the 67-72 board on straightening a bowed gate. I don't know if it'll work or not but it was interesting.

Thanks guys.

Yeah Mike I have known about that trick for a while, just not sure about trying it. But the more I look at mine I can't do any more damage to it then what it already has.

I put a straight edge up to it and though it does not look like it, it is pretty bowed on the outside also, so I will probably give a try at straightening it. If not, I am still looking for one anyways. Nice thing about it is there is no rust.

Here is what mine looks like

Bill,
That one is going to be tough. I had to pull a dent at the bottom of mine on the inside and Kevin and I had a fun time with it, that ridge at the bottom makes it real strong in that area. Sactojim on the 67-72 board split his into and used an aftermarket inner and used his original outside skin to fix his. Hey like you said you can't lose anything by trying to straighten it. Good luck with it.

Yup, I'll either have a gate or a new wall hanging for the shop.
