Hmmm... You painting the whole thing or leaving some chrome showing? Sounds like one of Outlaw's specialties here.

I would paint the low spots in the body color and polish the "fins"...if I'm understanding the question correctly.

The glove box cover (on right) is stainless and was gonna paint indentions the body color. The other is painted sheet metal. It would be coolif I could chrome it and paint low spots. that way it would match but is it worththe hassle?

I am wondering if you can polish the fins up good enough to make them match? You said one is stainless and one is painted? if you polish the fins on the painted one will the shine up enough to match the stainless? That would get you around doing the chrome first. If worst come to worse paint the top if the fins and paint the gaps a different color. But that will take away from the " oooooooo shinny" if you want some in the interior.

Now that's cool! I wonder who's gonna be the first to have a chrome truck? I didn't see a price though, so I probably can't afford it!

I would chrome it and paint the recesses Todd. :2thumbs

Keith and Wynne, the spectrachrome has been around a few years and is the BEST spray chrome system I have seen. The others get close but not exactly chrome, more like polished aluminum. The only problem is the equipment and chemicals to spray it are expensive. They do have one that is ready to spray in a conventional gun but same thing, looks more like polished aluminum.

The way you get the real chrome effect is you paint and colorsand/polish to a mirror reflection, then spray it lightly over the polished paint finish. So, your bodywork and paint have to be pretty flawless to get the real chrome look.

I have been thinking of getting some of the sprayable type since a pint is only $175.00 and would cover a good bit.

It looks like pretty cool stuff. I was thinking of having a grill done for the '63 just to see how I liked it. Maybe if Todd like the idea, we could help you pay for the material and give it a try.

Right now I'm leaning towards top and bottom strips polished and middle body color. But spray chrome may be just what Dr ordered for air cleaner I'm making.

It looks pretty cool Keith. The sprayable type that doesnt require the special equipment looks identical to polished aluminum. Very cool stuff. Another neat featrue is you can lightly scuff or swirl designs on the polished clear before you apply the chrome and it will show through. You can get a super clean engine turned looked and a brushed aluminum look thats realistic. Then you can apply kandies over it also! :2thumbs

I will get some soon and play with it. I should have some left to play on ya'lls stuff too.
