Scotts 4x4 Sub Build

Postby Scott Johnson on Sat Jun 27, 2009 12:00 am

Time to start my build thread. This is my 72 K10 Suburban. I`ve been working on this on and off for about 5 years now (mostly off). Have the frame blasted and painted with 6" all spring lift. Axles have been rebuilt with 456 gears installed. Body has all rust removed and new panels welded in place. Bottom has been blasted and sprayed with bedliner. Today I put the 350 TBI motor in the frame. Hope to get rest of the drive line pieces in soon, then on to the body. Here are a few pics of today`s work.

A clean shop is a happy shop. More progress pics coming in a couple of weeks. Maybe I`ll throw a few more rags on the floor next time. lol

Got the tank installed from the donor truck today. It is the large 41 gallon (I think) tank with internal fuel pump. Took a little work, but I think it turned out good.

Have the motor finished. My brother-in-law is in town and he came to check it out. He built a 350 Tuned port motor with new vortec heads and a few go-fast goodies that are supposed to be good for 400 hp. It was going into a project he was working on that he has now decided to sell. He asked if I wanted to swap my stock TBI motor for his modifed TPI motor since he was going to sell the project. Duh, didn`t take me long to answer that question!!! So here is a pic of my finished motor that is soon to be swapped for the Tuned port motor. I will keep all my front accesories to put on the Tuned Port motor.

All you got left is tranny, lines, and 3-4,000 hrs of block sanding and you'll be on the road huh?

Tank install looks really good Scott. Looks like it slipped between the frame rails nicely. Thumbs up on the swap for the TPI motor.

THat engine looks real good! I'd have a hard tim sending that down the road...but I understand the desire for more HorsePower!
